Abby came to visit this past weekend.

Oh my, she’s so precious.  Every month she changes so much.  She talks nonstop now, and entertains all of us with the things she says.

1bin_editedP-Pa bought her another dollhouse, a great big one this time, and he bought her a Little Tykes Kitchen.  She was excited with both of them, but it was the binoculars he got her that captivated her the most.  She constantly walked around looking thru them, often bent over, telling us she was searching for “clues.”  She has Rapunzel Crocs, pink ones, that she picked out herself, and she thinks they’re wonderful.  She also loves necklaces, so she was all decked out in the things she loved.

2_editedWe took countless rides on Milly, and we went “really, really fast” and we squealed and laughed and sang as we rode along.  If I do nothing else with this grandchild, I want to instill a love of nature in her.  I’m doing a good job so far, we went to the woods, and she smelled the flowers, and touched the leaves.  We watched for birds, and listened to their songs, it was such a good time.

IMG_6960_editedThe Queen Anne’s Lace was her very, very favorite and she told everybody she saw that they were her very, very favorite flower.  Mother would have smiled if she knew that, Queen Anne’s Lace were her favorite, too.  She would pick them, bring them in the house and put them in a Ball Fruit Jar that was filled with water and food coloring.  Then we would have blue, yellow, red, all different colors of flowers.  I need to do that for Abby, it would be fun to relive that memory again.

She continues to love the iPad, it’s her other very, very, favorite thing.  She’s such a big girl, she sits now and plays on it by herself, and if I try to help, she says, “No thank you Grammie, I’ll do it by myself.”

4_editedShe enjoyed tromping through the grass with her Auntie Trisher.  They found butterflies and dragonflies, and she was so excited, pointing them out to me.  She also wanted to see Mr. Bunny Rabbit, but he didn’t cooperate and come out to visit.  Later in the day she did get to see a rabbit, he was eating by the side of the road and wasn’t phased at all by the little girl on the golf cart giggling at him.

She says the funniest things.  She was getting ready for bed, Mama and Daddy weren’t fast enough for her, so she grabs her blanket, takes off down the hall yelling, “Cmon team, let’s ROLL!”

She now likes the dogs, too and wants to pick Maggie up and carry her around.  She calls them both “Pal.”  She says “Hiya Pal” or Whatcha doin’ Pal?”  I ask her Mom and Dad where she comes up with these things, and they just shake their head.  Who knows, but it sure is cute!

They were getting ready to leave Monday, and she came to me in the sunroom and said, “Grammie, I’m going to cry.”  Abby always tells you first, before she cries.  I sat her on my lap and asked her why and she told me “I don’t want to go home.”  Oh my, talk about tugging at the heartstrings.  I told her we were going to come visit soon and she shrugged her little shoulders, and just wilted, then gave  a big sigh and said in a little voice, “okay.”

And we will see her soon.  Lindsay’s due date is August 24th, so we’re going to visit next month and give her a little break.

The key to organization IS containment…

cl1

I preach this all the time, organize by containers and you eliminate reduce clutter.

I always have a ton of things on my ottoman, the magazines slide off in the floor, or Maggie jumps on top of them and scatters them to the winds, they’re messy, the clickers get lost, my cell phone gets buried under the clutter, I can’t find my iPod, you get my drift…

My buddy, V, has a big basket on her ottoman with all of her items in it.  Soooooo, yours truly had a moment of enlightenment and realized that I needed to do the same thing.  Rectangular ottoman = round basket, and round ottoman = rectangular basket.

Easier said than done.  I searched all over Heavensville for a round basket that would work, and found el zippo.  So I ended up with a rectangular one, angled it, and it fits the bill.  You would think baskets would be easy, but they aren’t!  It’s hard to find a tray basket that is a workable size, I did however, find one that I loved at Pier One for $59, but I didn’t love the price, so I ended up at Trees ‘n Trends and found a workable one on sale for $10.

I don’t think baskets are as popular as they once were.  I’ve been a fan since I was a girl, loved them forever, but I seldom see great ones anymore, just the samo.  Pottery Barn has the best ones, but they’re pricey and then you have to pay shipping charges, too.

Now I’m practicing what I always preach, the secret to organization IS containment!

And speaking of, I have the ultimate, I did this earlier in the week, but that’s for another post.  Check back and see what I’ve been up to.  This is my best idea yet, well almost…

Hope it’s cooler in your part of the world, we’re sweltering here today.

Happy Father’s Day to a wonderful Dad!

daddy1There is no greater joy in life than watching your child father his child.  Ryan is such an amazing Dad to Abby.  He’s so gentle and kind with her, he always stoops down to her level to interact with her, and she just soaks up his attention like a little sponge.  His patience amazes me, he always takes time to play with her, to guide her, to answer her constant questions.  It tugs at those heartstring just to watch the two of them interact.

Nobody one can set her off in a fit of giggles like her “Da-Da.”  Nobody makes her eyes light up like he does when he enters a room.  I feel to blessed this Father’s Day to have, along with LC, raised such a wonderful, good person as my son.

Happy Father’s Day Ryan, your mom is so proud of you!!!

Drugstore Alternative for Smashbox Photo Finish, Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel

mon

This is definitely the find of the year, ladies!  In fact this might just be my best find, ever!  Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer is the most amazing product.  You put it on your skin, and it smooths your skin, fills in pores and your makeup glides on like silk.

I’ve used it “sparingly” for several years, ever since my friend, Barb, told me about it.  It’s a wonderful product, but it’s a tiny bottle, and it’s also spendy.

Barb and I were at lunch last month and she was talking about how her last bottle cost even more than the $36 we used to pay.  Now the prices have raised to $42, and that’s for that tiny little 1 ounce bottle.

So the quest was on, I searched online to see if there could possibly be an alternative that would work similar to the pricey Smashbox Photo Finish.

Well, it only took a few minutes, people were raving about Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel, sold for chafing and irritation of underarms, breasts and the bikini area.  They said that the ingredients were identical, except for a couple of vitamins that Smashbox threw in, and that it works exactly the same for a fraction of the cost.

smashbox-photo-finish

I found it at CVS with the feminine products, way at the bottom of the shelf, and it was $8.50 for 1.5 ounces.

So I snapped it up, brought it home, and the next morning I took it for a spin.

I opened the container, squeezed out a pea sized pearl, put it on my face, and O. M. G. it was exactly the same as Smashbox.  EXACTLY.  Same look, same feel, I applied it and my skin felt like silk, my makeup just glided on, I was absolutely thrilled with this find.

Bottom line, 1 ounce of Smashbox Photo Finish – $42

1.5 ounces of Monistat Gel – $8.50

Pretty cool, huh.  $8.50 and it’s a larger amount then Smashbox by .5 ounces.

When you apply it, put a pea sized pearl in your hands, warm slightly and apply in a downward motion on your face.  Don’t apply in circles, as it tends to ball up just a bit when you do this, or at least Smashbox did, just apply in downward strokes.  You will love the way it makes your face feel.

This is one of the best ever finds, treat yourself this weekend.  You won’t be disappointed, pinkie swear you won’t!  And shame on Smashbox for charging such an outrageous price for the same product ingredients that Monistat charges so little for.

And, if this gets your wheels spinning just Google “drugstore alternative” for any product that you buy and would like to purchase cheaper.  You never know what you might come up with.

Happy Saturday!!!

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood….

IMG_9849_edited

The mimosa, the tree of my childhood, is in bloom now.  I love the fern like fronds, the fuzzy blooms, they take me back to when we had one in the front yard.  It was next to a rosebush, and I have not so fond memories of riding my Western Flyer Bicycle down the hill by our house at full speed, the chain coming off, and me crashing between the rosebush and the mimosa tree, yelling at the top of my lungs for mom to come rescue me.

The wild blackberries are starting to get ripe as well.  Of course I plucked the ripe one and ate it, that’s what old(er) country girls do.

I hope it is as lovely a day wherever you are this sunny Saturday.  I’m going back outside, it’s too pretty to stay indoors…

Please, please let me out of here…

bean2

Butterbean has discovered Petunia (John and Deanna’s rabbit)  in her temporary housing on the patio.  When we let him out of his hutch, he hangs around her cage like a lovesick teenager, standing on his back legs, peering inside.  And typical woman, she ignores him by hopping on top of her box.

Oh, wouldn’t he just love to get to her.  Not gonna happen though, no baby bunnies for this family, we have enough cwazy wabbits already….

How far have women come, really…

laurie-dhue

Have you read the headlines, “Fox News Ratings are Rising, So Are The Anchor’s Skirts?”

And it’s not only Fox, the conservative right, it’s all the news stations.  They show their anchors sitting on sofas, or at desks with no fronts, all young, thin, with tanned stockingless legs in short, short skirts.  Just flip through the channels, The Today Show, CNN, Good Morning America, all are showing soft women anchor porn, as I like to call it.

Are these women really hired on their merits? Would someone more qualified but not as attractive, as thin, or, heaven forbid, older, have a chance at a choice anchor spot on these news show?  Of course they wouldn’t!

But do we see the men in tight pants, trotting out the outline of their naughty bits for all the world to see?   Of course not!  And poor old Shephard Smith on CNN, the man looks half dead, but he’s still propped up there, reading the news.  Would a woman with serious health issues be allowed to do this?

So, when you think women are making headway in equality in the work place,  look again.  I find this totally appalling, and it’s not my age talking.  It’s a slap in the face on the ass for all women.  It always has been and always will be a man’s world, ladies, think about it…

Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee

I just had to share this picture since Britain embarks on four days of pomp, pageantry and patriotism starting Saturday to mark Queen Elizabeth's 60th year on the throne.  I love photos that show the personal side.  Prince Charles, his sister Anne and a cute Corgi, family brings it home, even for a Queen…

50 Shades of Grey AND Safe Sex for Seniors…

50-shades

I read the first book, then the second, then the third.  The author cleverly left you hanging, so you had to read the next book to see what would happen.

Well, let me tell you, by the time I was finished, I was sick, sick, sick of sex!  I mean c’mon people, even if it’s about bondage, there are only so many things you can do.  And over and over again, the author talked about Christian’s eyes darkening and Ana looking at him with downcast eyes, it was total, complete ad nauseum!!!!

This book was so hyped, and so read by women, it seems older women love it.  I think I was in the minority, the only thing that saved it for me was it was a good storyline.  But all the whips and chains is just not my thing.  I was actually claustrophobic when he would tie her up, so I skimmed a lot.  Would I recommend reading it, oh sure, because it is the book this year, and totally talked about.  Would I read a sequel if it comes out?  Oh, hell no!  I’m sick to death of it!!!!

Here is a clip of Barbara Walters talking about it.  Something about an 80 year old woman wearing leather, going into detail about this book is wrong on so many levels, IMO.

And while we’re on the subject, talk about wrong on so many levels, oh my, this clip of simulated sex with old people was on the news last week.  It’s a site promoting safe sex for old people, seriously.  When I watched the clip, I didn’t know whether to laugh, or be horrified.  Talk about a visual you don’t want to see.  But hey, go for it, give this a watch!

This is the REAL 50 shades of Grey!

And here’s the site link, if you’re fascinated and want to know more!

Enough already, I’m going to go out and enjoy the lovely day and try to erase the visuals of those old people from my mind!!!!

The kids are in the Cotswolds…

cots

Today's technology is so amazing. John and Deanna are at their Bed & Breakfast in the Cotswolds, and we visited using FaceTime on our iPads.

The video was so clear,  I was thinking as I talked to them how wonderful it is to be able to see them from the other side of the pond.  John panned the camera so that I could see the 150 year old Wisteria, the flowers are in bloom, Deanna loves peonies and said they were everywhere.  They’re having lovely weather, blue skies and temperatures in the 70’s.  The village houses all have thatched roofs, they are loving the quaintness of it.

They will be there for a few days, and then to Ireland for a week.  It’s so nice to be able to share the memories, oh to be young again and explore the world.

But instead we’re tucked inside our comfy little nest, with good music, Netflix, the paddle fans are turning, it’s cool inside, a respite from the outdoors where the temperature is in the high 90’s.  It’s a good life for us, we’ve had our day, traveled and explored, and now we can see and enjoy it through their eyes.

Life is good on this hot Memorial Day weekend in Heavensville, hope it is for you as well…

Cissy Spacek, My Extraordinary Ordinary Life

Sissy-Spacek

I’ve always been a fan of Cissy Spacek, I think she’s such a talented actress.  I enjoy her sensibility, her wit, her unusual looks, and I recently found out that she has penned her memoir, the book is called “My Extraordinary Ordinary Life.”

She recently was interviewed by Terry Gross on NPR’s Fresh Air.  The audio is available online, I really enjoyed listening to it.  Here’s the link if you’re a fan as well…

Wilted Lettuce, I just had the best salad of the year so far…

version_of_great_aunt_jeans_wilted_lettuce_salad-93229

You all know about my continuing obsession with Salad-In-A-Jar, and lately I’ve been eating Sam’s Spring Greens, hubby buys me two gigantic containers of it at a time.

This isn’t actually my picture, I snagged it online.  Mine looked better than this, but I was too busy stuffing my face to stop and take a photo.

And, I’m counting calories, and even though the bacon and dressing aren’t healthy, my salad came in at 350 calories, so that’s a good thing.  And the bacon fat is soooo satisfying! *wicked grin*

I took this huge, and I mean huge pile of greens, added chopped red onion, and meanwhile I sautéed 2 strips of bacon.  I measured 1 tablespoon of the drippings, added a packet of Splenda, salt, lots of cracked pepper, a tablespoon of white vinegar, brought it to a boil on the stove, put it in my favorite stainless steel bowl that was ma’s, then put a plate on top and let it sit for a bit to wilt.

Then I added the crumbled bacon, croutons and blue cheese crumbles and it was TO.DIE.FOR!!!

I’ve always adored wilted lettuce, and the only way this would have been better was if it would have had a chopped hardboiled egg added. But of course, if I would have doubled the bacon drippings and the vinegar it would have taken it to another level, but I didn’t do that…

Oh, SO good!!!

So now that I have a convertible…

I went to Gander Mountain today and perused the selection of Life Is Good Caps.  Now caps and I have a reputation for not liking each other.  My sweet dilly’s, Deanna & Linds look positively adorable in theirs,  but even when I was the age of their tender years, I looked like a dork in a cap.

I’ve tried them on and off since I was a teenager, and it’s always the same, I look like a pinhead.  So what in the world was I thinking at this age, trying on one again!  Now that the neck is gone, I look like a bad version of Paula Deen in her cap. Plus the fact that they make me self conscious and scream “look at me, I’m wearing headgear!”

paula

So what do I do?  Put on the bling?  I have white glasses, I have this same shirt and cutoffs and big earrings and a big purse, I have a Rolex fake Rolex Watch and a Coke Diet Coke, too.  And I can buy those shoes!  But wait!!!!! I read that Paula Deen has recently lost thirty pounds.  Maybe she got her neck back!

That’s it, I’ll diet, and in a few months maybe a cap will look better. But realistically I’ll probably just have turkey waddle that blows in the wind and looks even worse. *huge sigh*

Erna at Convertible Wheel

Or maybe I need to go outside my box, this little lady looks pretty jaunty in her cap/hat.  And she has a round face, but she has a neck and is young.  *another big sigh*

day21b3693661.2585

Or maybe a bucket hat would work better, Doris Day looks good in hers, well what I can see of her does…

gr

Or I could wear a hood, like Grace Kelly.  Oh sure, thing…

Ma_and_Pa_Kettle

Oh get real Jan, I’ll probably end up looking more like Ma Kettle.  But she was a good woman, and such a hoot.  That’s not a bad thing at all, to look like Ma.

If anybody has a suggestion, send them my way. But right it’s a gorgeous day and the top’s down,  I’m going for a drive!!! Rolling on the floor laughing

Let’s get this show on the road….

izzie lou

Izzie is enjoying her visit with the Grandparents.  She loves going for rides on Milly, and let me tell you, we’re a full house with Izzie Lou, my two girls, me and LC on the golf cart.  But everybody shuffles around and enjoys their rides, and it gives the neighbors something to smile about, as well…

Fun Fact:  Izzie’s proper name is Isabelle Lucille, and yes, John named her Lucille in honor of his Grandma.  Ma would have laughed to have known he named his dog after her.  She would have liked that….

Temporary Housing

pet

petfront

The "granimals" are visiting us for a few weeks while John and Deanna go to Ireland on vacation.  We brought them home last weekend, Petunia the Mini-Lop bunny, Izzie the cocker spaniel, and my two M&M’s were stuffed in the car, Ryan said the interior smelled like a pet store.

They were good little travelers, though, and now Petunia is ensconced in the shade under the honeysuckle vines in the patio.  Hubby improvised her a little house which she seems to like, and unfortunately, because neither rabbit are neutered, she and Butterbean won’t get to know each other.  I don’t think John would appreciate baby bunnies, Deanna, however would love them!

And such is life in Heavensville this glorious May day…

Abby and her first Cadillac…

caddy

I love you for your pink black Cadillac

Crushed velvet seats

Riding in the back, cruising down the street

Waving to the boys, peeling out of sight

Spending all my money on a Saturday night..

Hubby bought Abby this Escalade, we took it to Nashville, and somehow the guys were able to cram it into Lindsay’s SUV for the trip back to Lexington.  He was so thrilled to get it for her, I think he was probably more excited than she was.

Thank goodness we have several years before her Daddy has to deal with her driving real cars, and *gasp* boys.  Right now he’s thinking of keeping her housebound until she’s at least thirty-two….

Girl’s just wan-na have funnnnn…

photo(2)_edited

Early Sunday morning Deanna and I were sitting on the sofa with Abby.  I leaned over and asked her, “do you want Auntie Dee to paint your piggies?”  “Yeah” she answered.  Deanna painted them a soft pink/coral color, and Abby helped by blowing on her feet to dry them.

Oh, so sweet.  Lots of Abby stories this week…

Lord help, now I’m getting jowls!

old-brigitte-bardotMy neck has already gone and this weekend I was looking in the scary anyway 5X mirror, backlit with intense natural light, and yep, sure enough, there are two little pouches forming on either side of my chin.

Now I posted this picture of Bridgette Bardot because even the most beautiful women in the world grow old and get jowls.  Or, they get their face lifted so much that their belly buttons reside on their foreheads and look positively ridiculous.  So us mere mortals that aren’t that attractive to begin with don’t have a shot in hell!!! There is no way to escape the aging process, if we live long enough we’re going to look our age!

I’m sure some of you will be running to the mirror, looking at yourself and thinking, “whew, it hasn’t happened to me yet.”  But it will, my friends, it will, old age will get us in the end, and in the face as well. hehehe

But note to self after observing this picture:  Tone down the makeup, Jan. No heavily lined eyes, no dark lipstick, TONE.DOWN.THE.MAKEUP.  Never, ever go in the sun again without sunscreen, and when I think of letting my hair grow again, rethink that as well…

Now you all just go out there and enjoy your day.  And don’t keep looking in the mirror, it will make you cry!

It was such a fun Mother’s Day…

1_edited_3

We were all at John and Deanna’s in Nashville.  The best part of the day was when I got up Sunday morning.  Abby was already up, playing in another room and when she spotted me, she had this huge grin on her little face.  She came running to me, squealing, “you’re back,”  put her arms around me and gave me a big hug.  It was magic…

Wringer Washers, oh we’ve come a long way, baby…

There have been pictures of wringer washers on Facebook lately, and a lot of the younger generation don’t know what they are.  They also don’t know how lucky they are.

Mother’s beast of a thing was a Maytag, it looked just like this picture and resided in the “wash house,” a building behind our house.  Mother didn’t wash on Monday, which I never understood anyway, why wouldn’t wash day be on Friday so people would have clean clothes for the weekend?  But anyway, she worked, so Saturday was the day.

In the winter she washed inside the wash house, but in the summer it was hot, so we had to manuever the bulky washer down a couple of steps to the grass so that we could wash under the shade tree.  Then we would have to carry out the two heavy rinse tubs as well, and position them next to the washer.

And then the fun began.  First, there was no power, so she had to open a kitchen window and string an extension cord, and there was no running water, so we had to dip a bucket in the well, draw bucket after bucket after bucket of water to fill the tub, not only in the washer, but in two rinse tubs as well, and we had to first heat the water on the stove to make it hot.  You were exhausted before you even started washing the clothes.

She would fire the thing up, it would chug and churn and belch, and she would have to hand feed the clothes through the wringer to squeeze out the soap, then transfer the clothes into the first rinse tub, flip that ringer to the tub and run the clothes through the ringer again to get out the excess moisture, then repeat the process once more in the second tub so that you got out all of the soap.  You had to be really cautious, too, because more than one woman got her arm caught in that wringer.  She always had a washboard handy, and she would take a cake of lye soap that she had made, rub the soap into the stains and then scrub it against the washboard.

Then she would pile all of that wet laundry into bushel baskets and we would trudge to the clothesline to hang them to dry.  But first I would take a damp rag and run it the length of the clothesline, in case a bird had pooped on it, and then I had to take a 2x4 and prop up the middle of the line or the weight of the clothes would make it sag to the ground.

But we’re not finished, yet!  After the clothes were hung to dry, we had to empty the water and somehow lift that heavy washing machine and the rinse tubs back into the wash house.

It was a full day’s work, and regardless of how tired we were, we still had to take the clothes off the line, fold them and put them away.  The only bright spot is the smell.  There is nothing that can duplicate the smell of clothes dried in the sunshine.  It is a beautiful thing.  It’s also gratifying to see them blowing in the wind, knowing what it took to get to that point.  But it wasn’t very graitfying in the winter, when your hands would freeze as you pinned them to the line, and the clothes would freeze on the line.

And if I go back a generation, my grandmother had no electricity, no washing machine, ten kids, and she boiled water in the yard in a big copper pot, washed all of those clothes on a washboard, and hung them to dry.  I can’t even imagine.

So the next time you complain about having to do the laundry, rethink it!  It’s so simple now compared to the way it used to be, many of you don’t have a clue!

George Lindsay, dead at 83

You’ve given us countless laughs over the years, George Lindsay.  Rest in Peace…

My little country granddaughter…

abby1a

abby1

abby2

Lindsay sent me pictures of Abby playing with the cows.  When she would turn her back to the calves to pick grass for them, they would inch their way towards the fence.

Then, she would abruptly turn and run at them yelling, “You want some grass, cows?”  and they would scatter.  Linds said it was the weirdest game of red light/green light ever.  It seems like only yesterday that Ryan was carrying her down to the cow pasture in his arm.  Those eyes would get as big as saucers, and she would point that little index finger and say “cowwwwww.”  They grow up so quickly…

I’ve decided I don’t like gardening anymore…

george-marks-mature-woman-working-in-vegetable-garden

Oh, I’m sure I’ll feel differently tomorrow, but right now, after being outside since 7am, trudging to the garden center to buy a car full of plants, sweating in the sun, and being absolutely filthy, I don’t really like it much!

This was not my year to plant.  I wasn’t in the mood, just couldn’t get into it and ended up buying flats of begonias and impatiens and sticking them everywhere.  I threw in a few geraniums, hung all the ferns, like I normally do, but I didn't shop and plan and buy unusual plants.  Oh, it will all look good next month when it’s established, but I right now I’m just tired of messing with it!

I’m sure it’s just a passing thing, this old(er) country girl has always loved to dig in the dirt, and if Butterbean doesn’t absolutely destroy the patio, it will be colorful, even though it’s the samo.  The little scamp was trying to eat the stalks of my clematis this morning, I think I need a little fence around it, because he’s so fast I can’t watch him all the time.  I did plant him a huge oblong container of carrots, Burpee Kaleidoscope Mix, five different colors, and Short ‘n Sweet, little fat carrots.

But right now, I’m going to take my tired body to the comfy chair, with a glass of iced tea, Mags tucked in beside me and read for a bit.  I’ve definitely earned it today!!!

That cwazy wabbit!!!

bun1_edited

Ladies, you haven’t lived until you tried to pot flowers with a bunny rabbit as your helper.  Butterbean is getting bigger now, so we let him out of his hutch, and he explores the patio. It’s fenced, so he can play in a safe environment.   He also eats the fronds on my ferns, chews on the hostas, and nibbles on pretty much everything, including tree leaves. He hops from one end of the patio to the other at breakneck speed, and then he jumps high in the air, and does a complete spin before he lands.  Talk about entertaining!!!!

So now that he’s used to us letting him roam the patio when we are out there to watch him, as soon as he sees us he starts jumping on the door of his hutch, trying to get out.  And did I say that he’s nosey?  O.M.G, I didn’t know rabbits were so inquisitive, but trust me they are.  He has his little face stuck in everything!

This morning was cool, clear and gorgeous, and the flats of impatiens and begonias were calling my name, so, with hubby’s help, and Butterbean’s too, I might add, it was time to plant.

Well, he nibbled on the begonias, he stuck his head in the bucket of potting soil, he sat beside me, he did everything but dig in the dirt, which I’m sure he would do, if left to his own devices.

It was so much fun, that little rabbit, right in the middle of everything!  The M&M’s co-exist with him pretty well.  He and Mags are buds, she sniffs his tail, he sniffs her nose, they hang out.  Mollie isn’t as interested, she gives him a quick once-over, then goes to lie in the shade.

And so is life, this pretty spring day in Heavensville.  God’s little creatures certainly brighten my world….

Girlfriends are a wonderful thing.

My buddy, V came by Saturday to see Butterbean, and she told me before she came that she had a surprise for me.  When she gave it to me, she thought I might not like it as much as she did, but oh my, it’s the funnest (is that word?) gift I’ve gotten in maybe ever!

I didn’t realize that she didn’t know I’m a smiley face girl.  We’ve known each other since the dark ages, how did she not know this about me???  Nevertheles, I adore smiley faces, I always have, and when I opened the bag, this was what was inside!

It’s a Yellow Fiesta Smiley Face Plate.  Is this not the cutest thing??? I use it every meal and feel like I’m a kid again.

Girlfriends are a beautiful thing, and V is just the BEST!  She knocked it out of the ballpark with this one…

The best snack I’ve had in awhile…

fageI’ve been busy with other things lately, so I’ve been buying Fage Unflavored Greek Yogurt instead of making my own.  I know, bad girl, bad girl…

I seriously adore Greek Yogurt, seriously.  I eat it on baked potatoes, I make dips with it, I add Splenda and fresh berries, and now…

jifI’m eating it with Jif Extra Crunchy Peanut Butter, and it is totally awesome!  I take 1/2 or 23/ cup of Greek Yogurt, add 2 packets of Splenda, a tablespoon of Peanut butter, stir thoroughly and eat!  O.M.G. ladies, it you are a peanut butter person, you will love this.  Good for you, and under 200 calories.  It’s a great snack!  I’m also reading that you mix Greek Yogurt with Jello Cheesecake Pudding, the kind in the little four-packs.  I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m hearing it tastes like real cheesecake.  I’ll update you…
