What’s your take on this?
I got together with friends yesterday, we had a lively discussion about politics, and I referenced the fact that to me, it looks like Obama does the John Travolta Strut. We then broke out in song, singing “Stayin’ Alive.” Old(er) women, aren’t we a hoot!
Just watch Travolta, do you see the similarity, or is it just me?

I really miss going to the movies
Hubby and I love going to the movies, but seldom do, because I don’t want to spend $30 for a movie/popcorn/cokes to see the garbage that is churned out. But, hoping for a miracle, I checked in with Rotten Tomatoes, just to see what was showing, and what’s opening.
Here’s what jumped out at me, Hotel Transylvania Frankenweenie, Finding Nemo 3D, Seven Psychopaths, Smashed, Smiley and Gaby. Not one single “must see” movie in the bunch.
So then I jumped ahead to coming soon, blockbusters like Holy Motors and Paranormal Activity 4. Wow, can’t wait for those! Not!
But there is one ray of hope. The Big Wedding starring Diane Keaton and Robert DeNiro looks promising. They’re showing a release date of October 26th. I’ll take it!
In the meantime, I’ll have to be content to browse my new Williams Sonoma and Nordstrom’s fall catalogs, ooing and aahing over things that I will never order. *sigh*

Look who’s having a birthday…
10 things on my to do list this fall…
- Well, I was going to decorate the front of the condo, I was.
- Bake an apple pie, topped with cinnamon ice cream. But I’m eating healthy.
- Get an early start on my Christmas shopping. This hasn’t happened yet.
- Get Maggie’s teeth cleaned. But it scares me for her to go under.
- Seriously clean out my closet, but I talked about that yesterday.
- Ditto on organizing my jewelry.
- Steam clean the grout on my stone floors, okay, have hubby steam clean it.
- Can a batch of Chow Chow. I adore Chow Chow. No green tomatoes.
- Redecorate my dining room table. Yes, I decorate the table. Weird I know.
- Try a new hairstyle. Nah…
Well, this isn’t working out too well is it! Big surprise, NOT!
Sam Champion is getting married…
So snaps to you, ABC, you went out on a limb for this one, and to you Sam Champion, a great guy who just happens to live a different lifestyle than some of us do.

Some days, make that YEARS, it’s a struggle just to zip your jeans…
Every spring and fall, it’s the samo bitch. I get on here and rant about switching out my closet! And let’s face it, it’s not the switching that I detest, it’s the fact that most . of . the . closet . doesn’t . fit ! And you all probably are all sick to death of me talking about it, it’s like a bi-annual ritual for me, to whine about it.
I always swear that I’m going to throw it all in the trash, and then I don’t. I just stuff all those clothes in there that I never wear and try and forget about it. Why do I do this??? Year . after . year . after . year . after . year !!! For gawds sake, Jan, they sell this crap at the store, why hang onto it? But it seems like every single time I take the proverbial deep breath and pitch things, it isn’t a week later until I want something I’ve thrown away. I have jeans in every size I’ve worn since kindergarten, and I didn’t even go to kindergarten! I don’t, however, have mom jeans, those things were gone with the wind ages ago.
So is this the year, will I finally take a deep breath and give it the ole’ heave ho??? I should just replace everything in there with yoga pants and thermal t-shirts, my uniform of choice in the winter. Just have one pair of jeans, a sweater and a vest for when I actually do go someplace and that’s it. Wouldn’t that be a freeing experience?
Shoes aren’t so much of a problem, because with no feet, you tend to not go shoe crazy. All of mine have to be the same heel height, I seem to gravitate to BORN, it’s a brand that works well for me, and I like the boho look of them. And I have boots, I love boots, I’ll always wear them, but all in all, it’s not the shoes that give me fits. Duh, Jan, it’s only because your shoe size never changes. HELLO!!!!!!!!
I’m not feeling particularly in the mood to do this today, so all the crates of winter clothes are sitting in my bedroom. Scarlett is definitely going to worry about this tomorrow or maybe even Tuesday!
And if I get a wild hare, and throw it all away, I will definitely let you know.
Heart Attack and Water
How many of us have water by the side of the bed, but don’t really drink much of it, maybe we need to rethink this. My friend, Holly, sent me this article last week, thanks for the heads up Holly, this is important. ~ Jan
How many folks do you know who say they don't want to drink anything before going to bed because they'll have to get up during the night!!
I asked my Doctor why do people need to urinate so much at night time. Answer from my Cardiac Doctor = Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell). When you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) seeks level with the kidneys it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier. This then ties in with the last statement! I knew you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me. Correct time to drink water... Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist! Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs 1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion 1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure 1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack
Please pass this to the people you care about......
I can also add to this... My Physician told me that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse.
