Abby’s first day of school…

I’m all about Abby this month, so much is happening in her little life.  She calls her school, Kangaroo School because the classrooms are identified by different animals, and hers is a Kangaroo.

I was thinking the other day, that when she grows up she can look at these blogs and see herself through the years.  It’s a wonderful gift I’m giving my little granddaughter, this online diary of her life, and her baby brother will be following right behind her.

Life is good this morning, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and my little sweetie is a (pre)school girl…

The funniest birth story, yet…

My friend, Mary, sent me this story this morning.  Oh, ladies, I’m going to start your morning with a giggle.  Good one, Mary, thanks for sending!

The "Middle Wife" by an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher

I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second grade classroom a few years back.

When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome to do so.

Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater.  She holds up a snapshot of an infant. "This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday."

"First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in
my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an
umbrella cord."

She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and
wishing I had my camcorder with me. The kids are watching her in amazement.

"Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, "Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh!"
Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. "She walked around the house for like an hour, "Oh, oh, oh!" (Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning.)  "My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this.  (Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.)

"And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!' (This kid has her legs spread with her little hands mimicking water flowing away.. It was too much!)

"Then the middle wife starts saying "push, push," and "breathe", breathe. They started
counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother.

He was covered in yucky stuff that they all said it was from Mom's play-center,
(placenta) so there must be a lot of toys inside there.

"When he got out, the middle wife spanked him for crawling up in there.

Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat.

I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, when it's show-and-tell day,
I bring my camcorder, just in case another "Middle Wife" comes along.

Live every day as if it is your LAST chance to make someone laugh!!!! ( I do my very best)

Lindsay’s parents are visiting, and her dad sent me family pictures this morning.  Oh my, this one is simply wonderful.  Grammie is printing this ASAP and putting it on her bulletin board!

Lindsay always told me that her mom was great with braids.  Well, she wasn’t kidding, I tried doing this with absolutely no luck.  The woman is amazing!

Okay, so I’m printing this one, too.

Thanks for the pictures, Howard, you made my day!!!!

Does anybody remember Hazel, the television show….

I was making a FaceBook post tonight, and I said the word “Doozie.”  Made me think of Hazel, and I just had to find her on YouTube.  I loved Hazel all those years ago, and she always said things were “doozies.”

If you’re as old as dirt, you will remember Hazel, if you’re younger, you will think this is hokey.

So all you oldies but goodies, here’s Hazel,  a blast from the past.  Enjoy…

My favorite lipstick, Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze

Pioneer Woman blogged about her favorite lipstick this week, so I’ll just follow down the yellow brick road and do the same, since I have a great one to share with you.

The older I get the more I like nude lips. Well, not nude Kardashian type lips, but shiny lips, with just a hint of beige, not pink, color, it’s just really natural looking.  Bold lipsticks don’t work for me anymore, they just make me look hard.

So here it is, my absolute, hands down favorite.  Deanna tried it, didn’t work for her, she does brights really well, so I inherited her stash!  I tried it on Lindsay, looked great on her, as she doesn’t wear a lot of color either.  And added bonus, it’s ColorStay so it stays on for several hours, of course not 8 hours, it is a gloss after all, but you can get 3-4 hours before you have to reapply.

Oh, did I mention the price is right, too?  Love that drugstore makeup.  This will only set you back about $6-7 dollars.  Send a kiss

Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze (Glacis Mineral).  The color is Lasting Shimmer
